Gum Disease Treatment
Assessment and treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis to stabilise gum health.
Gum disease begins quietly. Bleeding when brushing, persistent bad breath, or gums that look red and puffy are early signs of gingivitis, which is reversible with proper cleaning.
Left alone it can progress to periodontitis, where the bone supporting the teeth is gradually lost. That bone does not grow back on its own, which is why periodontitis is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults and why early treatment matters so much.
Treatment starts with measuring the depth of the pockets around each tooth to establish how far things have gone. Scaling and root planing cleans below the gum line where a toothbrush cannot reach. Deeper pockets may need further treatment. Maintaining the result depends heavily on daily home care and regular reviews, and we will show you exactly what your own case requires.
Suitability and results depend on a clinical examination. Your dentist will explain options, risks and costs before any treatment.
