Braces
Fixed metal and ceramic braces for cases needing more control than aligners give.
Fixed braces attach a bracket to each tooth and connect them with a wire. Adjusting that wire over months moves the teeth, and because the appliance is bonded in place it works continuously without depending on you remembering anything.
That last point is the real difference from clear aligners. Aligners come out, and a result that depends on twenty hours of daily wear depends on the patient. Braces do not. For teenagers, for anyone who knows their discipline is patchy, and for adults with demanding schedules, this is often the deciding factor rather than appearance.
Braces also handle movements aligners struggle with: substantial rotation, moving a tooth root rather than tipping the crown, closing large extraction spaces, and correcting marked bite discrepancies. Where a case needs that level of control, we will recommend braces even if you came in asking about aligners.
Ceramic brackets in a tooth-coloured material are available and considerably less visible than metal, though they are slightly bulkier and cost more. Dr. Divya Deepak will set out what each option means for your case, your timeline and your day-to-day life.
Suitability and results depend on a clinical examination. Your dentist will explain options, risks and costs before any treatment.
