Fillings and Restorations
Tooth-coloured composite and porcelain restorations that repair decay and damage.
A filling repairs a tooth damaged by decay or fracture. We use tooth-coloured composite and porcelain materials that bond to the remaining tooth structure and blend with its natural shade.
Bonded restorations generally require less removal of healthy tooth than older amalgam techniques, because they hold through adhesion rather than mechanical shape alone. For larger cavities, a porcelain inlay or onlay may be recommended instead, as it handles chewing forces better than a large composite.
We also replace old fillings that have cracked, worn down, or begun to leak at the margins, which allows decay to develop underneath. If you have a filling that catches food, feels rough, or has changed colour around the edge, it is worth having it looked at.
Suitability and results depend on a clinical examination. Your dentist will explain options, risks and costs before any treatment.
